Friday 14th October is ‘Wear It Pink’ Day

What is Breast Cancer Awareness Month?

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, a worldwide annual campaign involving thousands of organisations, to highlight the importance of breast awareness, education and research.

During Breast Cancer Awareness Month, its aim is to get as many people as possible involved in raising awareness and funds for breast cancer research. This is done through campaigning, collecting, an array of various events across the UK and of course wearing pink!

About Wear It Pink

When you join the hundreds of thousands of people who take part in ‘Wear It Pink’,  you become part of a collective force of scientists, supporters and people affected by breast cancer. Together, by funding cutting-edge research, the aim is to ensure no one dies from breast cancer by 2050.

Every year, ‘Wear It Pink’ raises around £2 million during Breast Cancer Awareness Month for the UK’s largest breast cancer charity, Breast Cancer Now. How? It’s simple – they just ask you to wear something pink and donate whatever you can. They use the money you raise to fund world-class breast cancer researchers across the UK and Ireland. Together, they’re working to discover how to prevent breast cancer, how to detect it earlier and how to treat it effectively at every stage so we can stop the disease taking lives.

About Breast Cancer Now

They believe that if we all act now, by 2050, no one will die from breast cancer. But they will only reach that point by working in a new, collaborative way. They are bringing together all those affected by the disease to improve the way we prevent, detect, treat and halt the disease. So we can move from a time when people fear breast cancer to a generation where they don’t.

Iconic Landmarks "Wear it Pink"!

Last year, a whole host of famous and beautiful landmarks across the UK turned pink during October to remind the nation to support Breast Cancer Awareness month and ‘Wear It Pink’.
