FLORID: by MH users and carers, for MH users and carers

Screen_Shot_2016-10-19_at_15.17.05.pngWe’re florid – are you?  If you’re not, get yourself down to the Florid website and check it out. It’s amazing! Florid is an informative and accessible website – developed by Mental Health service users and carers, for Mental Health service users and carers to share views and information.

Apparently, it’s conception was “both traumatic and joyful and its inception has pushed all of us into areas we did not know we could go. In short, we want to de-bunk psychiatry and to challenge all of us to think about mental health today”.

Florid’s mission is to provide an on-line platform that offers clear, easy to read information advice and support. To empower anyone experiencing mental health problems and to raise awareness, fight stigma and promote understanding, that respects the rights of the individual to dignity, choice, privacy and independence.

Congratulations to all concerned – including East London NHS Foundation Trust who funded the venture. With clear sections and easy signposting on four key areas -  Information, Support, Community and Contacts - there’s something to help everyone who visits, or at least point them in the right direction.

We love the concept, vibrancy, visuals and sense of humour of the site and are already recommending it to family and friends.  Visit soon – and please share with your network if you think appropriate!
